And if you doubt that this belief exists, or that the belief is strong, do a quick search on Twitter for "The Final Countdown Rocky IV" (or "Rocky 4") to find a bunch of people referencing it in various ways through the years (including me, in a tweet version of this column) and celebrating the song's role in the "Rocky IV" experience.


I know some of you likely "remember" it in the movie, but you're wrong. So here's a new thing for your brain to ponder, though this one is inarguable: Europe's song "The Final Countdown" is not in "Rocky IV." It's not so much a conviction as a nugget of 100 percent truth, and I've wanted to get it off my chest for a while. One very minor bright spot about the coronavirus pandemic is that all the self-isolation has provided lots of time to think about our convictions, both serious and pointless, and share our most precious thoughts with a captive social-media audience hungry for new information and new things about which to argue.
